DOT Urine Specimen Collector Train-the-Trainer


This course includes mock collections, scenario training, and initial training supplies. This certificate is also valid in Canada and for countries that use US DOT regulations.

The DOT Urine Collector Train-the-Trainer course was created by drug testing expert and attorney Andrew Easler, Esq. and provides training for individuals who wish to become qualified trainers for DOT urine collection for drug testing in accordance with the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Participants will learn about the DOT regulations for drug testing, the collection process, and procedures for ensuring the urine specimen's integrity. With expert guidance from Andrew Easler, Esq., participants will gain a deep understanding of the regulations and procedures involved in DOT drug testing.

Upon completing the course, participants will have the knowledge and skills necessary to perform urine collections, properly comply with DOT rules and regulations, and be able to train others on how to perform DOT urine specimen collections.

Corporate trainers will be provided an instructor account to register new learners and their initital proficiency for $30 per person per course. This 8-hour online course will “train-the-trainer” to educate employees or clients who will be performing urine specimen collection under DOT protocols. Students who complete the course can conduct in-house corporate training or start their own training business.

The DOT Urine Specimen Collector Train-the-Trainer course is a comprehensive online training program that covers the instructional practices necessary for training urine specimen collectors in accordance with federal regulations.

This program complies with the “train-the-trainer” requirement for collector training and monitoring as outlined in the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations – DOT regulation 49 CFR Part 40.33(c)(2)(iii). This program is designed for instructors who serve in a wide variety of roles, including those regulated by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), and the U. S. Coast Guard (USCG). It will also be applicable to service agents of federal agencies covered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Mandatory Guidelines for Workplace Testing.

With the train-the-trainer certification, in-house corporate trainers and trainers who want to start their own training business can train and qualify new DOT urine specimen collectors and conduct refresher and error-correction training for collectors.

Students learn independently with our thorough online learning program that uses videos, documents, resources, and PowerPoint presentations.

Trainers will also be sent training supplies and forms needed for their demonstrations, complete virtual mock demonstrations (mocks), and a certificate of completion can be downloaded immediately after passing the online exam, and then be enrolled as an instructor in our system to train others, content fees apply for trainers who wish to use our training content.

Effective Teaching of Collection Techniques: Trainers will understand and practice the correct techniques for urine specimen collection and become adept at teaching these techniques. This includes preparing the collection area, ensuring privacy and security, following chain of custody procedures, and documenting relevant information correctly.

Training Resource Utilization: Trainers will be familiar with the resources available for drug screening and learn how to use them in their teaching. They will understand how to educate others to handle, store, and transport specimens while maintaining the integrity of the testing process.

Instruction in Industry-Specific Vocabulary and Acronyms: Trainers will build a robust understanding of industry-specific vocabulary, acronyms, and jargon. They will also master techniques to effectively communicate and teach this terminology to their trainees.

Chain of Custody Procedures Training: Trainers will learn the importance of chain of custody procedures in urine specimen collection and will be taught methods to instruct others on this crucial process. They will also be guided in teaching their trainees to maintain a secure, documented process from collection to lab testing.

Ethical and Compliance Considerations: Trainers will learn about ethical conduct, confidentiality, and compliance in urine specimen collection. They will also be trained to pass on this information to their trainees, helping them navigate potential ethical dilemmas and maintain professionalism.

By the end of the training, trainers will have acquired the knowledge and skills to educate others on conducting urine specimen collections under DOT guidelines. They will be able to impart knowledge effectively, ensuring their trainees understand the chain of custody procedures, utilize resources during drug screening, and use industry-specific vocabulary and acronyms.
