The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has announced a final rule updating its drug and alcohol testing procedures, effective December 5, 2024. Starting on this date, train-the-trainer courses will be available for those seeking advanced training. Learners not interested in the train-the-trainer program can enroll in the DOT Oral Fluid Collector Training for $900.

DOT Oral Fluid Collector Train-the-Trainer program was designed for individuals seeking to become qualified trainers in properly collecting and handling oral fluid specimens for DOT-regulated drug testing and will take approximately 8 hours to complete. Developed by Andrew Easler, an attorney and subject matter expert in drug and alcohol testing, alongside industry professionals, this Attorney Trusted® course is compliance-focused training for educators and practitioners alike. It includes mock collection, scenario training, and initial training supplies.

This education-focused training program offers learners the knowledge and teaching tools to effectively train others in DOT-compliant oral fluid collection. With a curriculum grounded in the latest regulations, the course empowers trainers to educate their teams while confidently maintaining adherence to DOT standards. 

Corporate trainers will be provided an instructor account to register new learners and their initital proficiency for $60 per person per course. On May 2, 2023, the DOT published a final rule in the Federal Register amending its drug testing regulations to include oral fluid testing, effective June 1, 2023. The updated regulations highlight the importance of employers maintaining standing orders with collection sites and establishing business relationships with oral fluid collectors and laboratories.
