DOT Screening Test Technician Training (STT) for the ALCO-SCREEN 02


DOT Screening Test Technician Training (STT) is a 4-hour online training course that includes virtual mock demonstrations and is device-specific. Students who complete the course will be able to work as a DOT-qualified screening test technician using the Alco-Screen 02.

Course Overview

Important Note: This course requires the student to have an Alco-Screen 02 devic for demonstrations and enough mouthpieces or testing strips for completing mocks (at least 10 spare mouthpieces).

DOT Alcohol Screening Test Technicians (STTs) play a pivotal role in the drug and alcohol-free workplace by measuring Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC) for DOT-regulated employees. The Alco-Screen 02 is one of the screening devices that has been approved by the DOT for workplace alcohol testing. **Please note that this course is not for those who plan to become a Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) using an evidential breath testing device (EBT Device) which is capable of both screening and confirmation. This training course complies with the three benchmarks of training required by federal regulation 49 CFR Part 40.213(a-c) including Basic Information Training, Qualification Training, and five Initial Proficiency Demonstrations.

Students learn at their own pace with our comprehensive online training program that uses videos, documents, resources, and PowerPoint presentations. Also included at no extra charge are virtual Mock Demonstrations (Mocks) conducted by webcam. A certificate of completion can be downloaded immediately after passing the online exam.

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader(latest version) can be used for viewing PDF files offline (outside of a web browser). –
